Pearl Outlet Mall allows shoppers a sneak peek

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Shoppers got a sneak peek Wednesday at the new outlet mall in Pearl. Some of the 80 stores opened early, as a warm up for Thursdays grand opening.

The parking lot was filled, even though last minute work continues on the Outlet Malls of Mississippi. Bulldozers and contractors were making last minute adjustments and tweaking wires. Wednesday many of the outlet stores previewed sales.

"Oh I think it's wonderful I'm so glad it's close by now instead of having to drive all the way to Vicksburg," said one shopper.

Shoppers braved a cold wind and chilly temperatures to get an early bird start on their holiday selections.

Shopping bags were filled with bargains some prices reduced up to 75% off of outlet prices.

Other workers kept the doors locked and allowed only window shopping.

The general manager expects thousands of visitors to the new mall now through Christmas. 1600 workers have been hired. Dollars are expected to add up from a revenue standpoint benefiting the mall and central Mississippi during tough economic times.

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
