Initially the 30-year-old Tuscaloosa male victim told police he was taunted for being an Alabama fan. The shooting happened around 2:37 a.m. Sunday at the Shell gas station on Skyland Blvd and Greensboro Avenue.
The victim said he stopped at the gas station and two men began taunting him for rooting for the Crimson Tide.
The victim and the suspects got into a fight, and it escalated when one of the suspects drew a gun. The victim also grabbed a gun from his vehicle, but was shot in both legs by the suspect.
Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide investigators are now saying they believe the incident possibly spilled over from another incident at a nearby business that was also reported to police. Detectives believe all the people involved are local and may have run into each other before.
Police believe the suspects fled the scene in a small black vehicle.
On Tuesday, Tuscaloosa Police released photos of the two suspects. They have not yet been identified or arrested.
Anyone with information about the people in these photos or the shooting is asked to call the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
