PHENIX CITY, AL (WSFA) -

An officer with the Phenix City Police Department who dead following a shooting Sunday evening is now being identified.

Raycom News Network partner WTVM confirms the officer was 29-year-old Daniel Davis.

Davis was getting off work when he was shot to death while still in uniform as he sat inside his unmarked state vehicle.

The shooting happened at the Carriage Hill apartment complex, located on Lakewood Drive and Summerville Road, where Davis lived with his girlfriend.

The officer's body has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.

Neither a suspect nor a motive are currently known in this case.

No other information has been released pending further investigation.
