Perry County man arrested on several drug charges, two counties

PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

After posting bail at one jail, a Perry County man now faces charges in Forrest County.

Michael Bethley, 55-year-old, made his initial appearance in Perry County court Friday morning.

According to Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith, Bethley faces one count possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, one count possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver, and two counts of sale of a controlled substance. After posting bail in Perry County, Bethley was immediately taken to Forrest County Jail where he faces three counts of sale of a controlled substance

After months of investigation, the 12th Judicial Drug Task Force along with the Perry County Sheriff's Department were able to catch Bethley during one of his transactions and arrest him Thursday afternoon. According to Sheriff Smith, $44,627 was confiscated from Bethley.

"I'm very proud of the 12th Judicial Task Force, these guys are working very hard, they've done a very great job, not only in this case but other cases," said Sheriff Smith. "They got three-and-a half pounds of marijuana out this place plus seventy-five grams of crack cocaine. I'm just very proud of them, they have done a tremendous job, my hats are off to them."

Bethley's initial appearance in Forrest County is scheduled for Monday.
