Laurel police investigating shooting death

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

According to the Laurel Police, a 26-year-old man was shot to death Thursday night as he was sitting outside his apartment near Johnson Circle.

Police said it happened just after 8 p.m. at apartment 15 in South Park Village. According to officials, Douglas McGruder was sitting in a chair on his patio when he was stuck with a bullet. Police said he was able to stagger inside before collapsing.

According to police, at least four other people were inside at the time of the shooting.

The body was sent to Jackson for autopsy.

Police said they are currently looking for a white car that may have been involved in the shooting, and ask the public to contact the Laurel Police Department with any leads.

    The new Miss Hospitality has been crowned in Hattiesburg.  She is Emma Grace McGrew, 18, of Booneville.
