One of the best high school football players in southwest Georgia will soon line up with the best in the country.
Brooks County standout Malkom Parrish has made a name for himself around south Georgia on the football field.
Now he hopes to show his stuff on a national level.
The Trojans' superstar has been named a U.S. Army All American, something he never thought was possible.
"I never even thought about this game to tell you the truth, but it's a great honor," says the UGA commit. "It's a great honor to me and a great deal for my mom and my family and my parents and this community, so I'm willing to accept this challenge and I'm going to do the best I can."
Parrish was invited to take part in the annual All-American Bowl Game in front of his classmates and family today in Quitman.
The QB/DB is one of only 90 players selected to the All-American team, and is the first chosen in Brooks County history.
The senior says he can't wait to compete with the nation's best.
"I'm going to take advantage of every second of myself being out there," he says. "It's going to be great."
"I expect him to do the best he can, to play as hard as he can, and for folks to know who this kid is, where he comes from, and why haven't we heard about him," says Trojans' head coach Maurice Freeman.
Parrish is looking forward to representing the small community on the national stage, and says he feels like he's carrying Quitman with him to San Antonio.
"I'm going to do my part, and how everything goes, it just goes," he says.
Freeman knows Parrish will be able to put the community on the map.
"Our name gets mentioned on national TV," Freeman says. "People have to say, 'Brooks County? Where is that?' So everyone has iPhones now. Somebody's going to look, 'Oh it's in Quitman.'"
Parrish will be joined in the All-American Bowl by Lowndes OL Dyshon Sims. Sims will be announced as an All-American Thursday in Valdosta.
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl can be seen live Saturday, January 4 on WALB.
