Forrest General Hospital and the American Heart Association bring healthy eating to Hattiesburg

If a commitment to healthy eating seems too tough to swallow, representatives at Forrest General and the American Heart Association say to start with a taste test.

Today is National Eating Healthy Day, and Forrest General Hospital staff members, along with the American Heart Association says now is a good time to develop new eating habits.

The American Heart Association is teaming up with Forrest General Hospital for the "My Heart, My Life" initiative. On Wednesday, Forrest General employees chose to eat healthy meals in the hospital cafeteria, and all unhealthy foods were removed from the menu for the day.

Heather Collins from the American Heart Association says that one's body can change by eating healthier.

"Today is National Eating Healthy day and so the American Heart Association is promoting healthy eating. So, stay skinny on the fats, and lower your sodium intake. Make sure that you get your fruits and vegetables," Collins said.
