LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Laurel Garden Club's regional flower show took place this week at the Lauren Rogers Museum, showcasing floral design, horticulture, and photography.
Entrants in the floral design category were challenged to recreate a piece of art from the museum using flowers and other materials. The creations were judged Wednesday before the exhibit opened to the public. Judges flocked to Laurel from all over the Southeast to view the fragrant masterpieces.
The flower show is open to the public on Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm and Thursday from 10am to 3pm. It is free of charge.
"The great thing about gardening is that anyone can do it," said Phyllis Johnson, President of the Laurel Garden Club.
Special guest John Grady Burns, a floral designer from Atlanta, was in attendance. He will hold a master class on Thursday.
The Laurel Garden Club is part of the Garden Club of America, a national organization based in New York City.
