Jones County Junior College hosts leadership conference

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Jones County Junior College hosted the Skills USA Leadership Conference Monday at the Whitehead Advanced Technology Center in Ellisville.

More than 400-students from around south Mississippi attended the event. Skills USA is a career and technical organization serving high school and college students across the country. It's goals are to ensure the country has a skilled work force. The students participated in a number of activities to better prepare them for future success.

"The things we are bringing to the students today include resume writing, job skill interview techniques, and the importance of using social media like facebook and twitter responsibly," said Andy Sims, Skills USA State Director. "When they go on a job interview they need to understand that employers will do a background check and one of those checks will be their social media pages. They need to be aware of what they put out there for the world to see."

Skills USA provides support to more than 300,000 students and educators annually.
