Tonight in Laurel and tomorrow night across the rest of the Pine Belt children will hit the streets for trick-or-treating, and while this is a night for lots of fun and lots of good things to eat, we all need to be careful.
Children 12 and under should be accompanied by a grownup or older family member. It is a good idea for everyone to wear something reflective, brightly colored and to carry a flashlight. Coach your kids to cross at crosswalks and not in between cars.
Most of all, drivers need to take extra care as those ghosts and goblins start darting across driveways, lawns and busy neighborhood streets. With a little extra caution we can all have a safe and happy Halloween.
