HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The victims of domestic violence in the Hattiesburg area were remembered during an annual ceremony Tuesday night.
Hattiesburg Police, the Domestic Abuse Family Shelter and other organizations gathered for a candlelight vigil at the Sherrill Community Center.
During the event, prayers were said for victims of domestic violence.
"We do it to just take a minute, pause and reflect on domestic violence and how it impacts our city and how it impacts the world," said Latosha Myers-Mitchell of the Victims Services Unit of the Hattiesburg Police Dept.
The event is held in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
