Southern Miss football team faces tough task

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Golden Eagles will face a tough task going on the road to play Marshall.

Marshall is the highest scoring offense in the conference, and the defense that allows the most points is Southern Miss.

Although the Eagle's defense will face a daunting task, the offense may run into some opposition as well.

"They're a talented offense right now, and they cause you problems and hopefully we can come up with a solution to them," said David Duggan, Southern Miss Defensive Coordinator.

Southern is the second to last in scoring offense with 12.7 per game, and the Thundering Herd defense is second best in Conference USA at keeping teams out of the end zone at 23 per contest.

"We've got a real challenge ahead of us," said Head Coach Todd Monken, "A really good football team with a really good quarterback and group of good coaches and again, it is going to be a real challenge for us."
