HAWKINS, TX (KLTV) -

DPS troopers tell KLTV 7 tonight that a man wanted for robbing a bank in Kilgore on Tuesday has been apprehended.

Randall Wikert, 60, of Kilgore, was spotted by police in Hawkins early Wednesday evening. A search began, and Hawkins residents were told to stay inside, because Wikert was said to be armed and dangerous.

But late Wednesday night, Wikert was caught by a DPS trooper at the Sonic Drive-In in Hawkins, on Beaulah Street.

DPS Public Information Officer Jean Dark tells KLTV 7 that Hawkins police got an anonymous tip that Wikert was in the area around the restaurant. Police and DPS troopers responded to the tip, but were unable to locate him.

Dark says that most of the officers cleared that scene, but that Trooper Zack White, who had worked in the Hawkins area in the past, stayed nearby, and spotted White at the Sonic.

White then made the arrest. Wikert was transported to the Wood County Jail in Quitman. He faces charges for robbing the BankTexas branch in Kilgore.
