SWAT used in Daingerfield standoff

DAINGERFIELD, TX (KLTV) -

A wild scene unfolded in an East Texas neighborhood as police and SWAT members converged on a home looking for a suspect.

It started around 4 p.m. Wednesday at a Daingerfield home in the 800 block of Carpenter street.

A flashbang grenade was thrown in as a SWAT team stormed a house. What led to this was a call to Daingerfield police earlier in the day.

"A report of a possible homicide at a residence here in town," said Daingerfield police chief Tracy Climer. "We tried to set up lines of communication with the resident."

Police received information that the unidentified man had been seen at the residence, and units from five different departments converged on the location.

Frightened neighbors had little information.

"They've been trying to get him to come out and he wasn't coming out," said neighbor Courtney Smith." They surrounded the house and the shed."

Having failed at any line of communication with the suspect, police were forced to call in the SWAT team.

But the effort was wasted. It was an empty home.

"No one or no person was found inside the home," Climer said.

That leaves police still looking to see if a homicide actually happened. There is no mention of a victim in the case. Police say they know the family of the man in question and are talking to them about his whereabouts.
