Forrest County board attorney issues scam alert

FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) -

The attorney for the board of supervisors issues a scam alert.

Attorney David Miller says several residents have been receiving letters indicating they need to pay $83 to get a copy of their property deed by a certain deadline.

The reality, Miller adds, is the Chancery Clerk's office can assist Forrest County residents with obtaining a copy of the deed at a much smaller cost – 25 cents per page.

If you feel you may have fallen victim to this scam, you may call the board of supervisors' attorney at 601-545-6006.
