Hattiesburg hosts annual health day celebration

The City of Hattiesburg hosted its 2nd Annual Franklyn L. Tate Community Health Day celebration on Saturday at the Lake Terrace Convention Center.

The event kicked off with a walking parade that featured the Mayor of Hattiesburg Johnny DuPree, Hattiesburg High School Marching Band, and The National Double-Dutch League from Bronx, New York.

The celebration also included HIV Miracle Dr. Hannah Gay and former NFL star Todd Pinkston.

The Franklyn L. Tate Community Health Day pays homage to the city's efforts to fight obesity and other preventable illnesses and the life of Tate, who was the City of Hattiesburg Director of Federal and State Programs and a YMCA staple. Tate passed away last year.
