WDAM Viewpoint- A minor inconvenience may have great benefits

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Many of you may have seen a news report on our station and website last week concerning a reduction of meth labs in Mississippi. Margaret Ann Morgan reported that according to the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics the number of discovered methamphetamine labs has continued to go down.

In large part due to law passed in 2010 requiring a doctor's prescription for medications containing pseudoephedrine. Looking into this further, we know that the state of Oregon has passed similar legislation and has also discovered fewer labs.

So as we enter the cold and flu season we may find access to these medications a bit cumbersome, but remember the people of Mississippi and more specifically we in Pine Belt are better for it.

This is today's viewpoint.
