Special Olympics receives $5,000 grant

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Special Olympics Mississippi has received a $5,000 grant to help its sports training and athletic competition programs in south Mississippi.

The money comes from the Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation's Ann Morris Memorial Fund. It was presented Wednesday morning at the Pine Belt Family Y.

Special Olympics Mississippi was founded in the Pine Belt in 1968 and held its first games at Southern Miss.

This year's games will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 at Camp Shelby.
