Viewpoint: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As many of you already know, Breast Cancer Awareness month is an annual campaign to increase awareness of this disease. But more importantly the goal is to encourage women to develop a plan to get screened and to encourage your friends and family to do so. The American Cancer Society estimates that over 230 thousand women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2013. That is a staggering number, so please develop a plan to get checked. According to The American Cancer Society there are more that 13.7 million cancer survivors in the US. And it is early detection that saves thousands each year. On the 7th of each month WDAM partners with Kim's No Bull in Laurel to remind women in the Pine Belt to get screened.  Please get screened for you, for your family and encourage others to do the same.
