NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police are investigating after a man was shot Wednesday afternoon in a residential area north of Nashville.

Investigators say 23-year-old Donzell McKissack was shot at least three times in the stomach in the 3400 block of Fawnwood Place. He then ran a few doors down to a home in the 200 block of Fawnwood Court, asking for help.

A young man inside that house heard the shooting victim yelling, got him a towel and called 911.

McKissack was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment on non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said McKissack has a long criminal history, and he does not live in that area, so they are working to determine why he was there.

Police do not yet have any suspects and urge any witnesses to come forward. If you have information that could help investigators, call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
