(WMC-TV) - Investigators charged a Mid-South minister for spreading HIV.

Minister Rodney Carr faces a class C felony, which is a conviction punishable with significant prison time.

Carr is scheduled for trial in December in criminal court from a July 2012 arrest on accusations that he had sex with a girlfriend but did not tell her he was HIV positive. She found out only after they broke up when she tested positive.

According to an affidavit of complaint, Carr tested positive for HIV in 2005. He had knowledge of his status and the exposure law.

His wife died three years ago.

University of Memphis police arrested Carr in October 2011 for allegedly threatening another man with a gun during an argument over a woman.

He got diversion, but he was charged with violating his probation after his arrest on the HIV charge.

Action News 5's calls to The Fellowship of Believers in Christ Church were not answered and messages were not.

Court records do not list any other victims. Law restricts the health department from releasing any information about patients.
