PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Three people escaped from a mobile home that caught fire early Sunday morning, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

The blaze broke out at around 4 a.m. at 20650 N/ 38th Drive.

The three adults who escaped managed to grab a number of pets on their way out. The owners had five adult dogs and six puppies, said Phoenix fire spokesman Capt. Tony Mure.

The mother of the puppies ran back into the home looking for her pups and died, Mure said.

Firefighters helped the family find shelter.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
