Two state university presidents could earn possibly more than $180,000 in extra compensation after the Arizona Board of Regents approved performance incentives Thursday.
The regents met in Flagstaff and decided that Arizona State University President Michael Crow and University of Arizona President Ann Weaver Hart are good at their jobs and approved performance incentives of $40,000 each just for this year.
The regents said the additional compensation is a part of a package that is written into their contracts that will be paid if certain benchmarks are met.
The presidents of ASU and University of Arizona also learned today they could each receive as much as $180,000 in additional money in 2015.
Arizona Board of Regents President Eileen Klein will receive a $25,000 in extra compensation.
The regents are also putting into action a plan to keep students safe.
They want to create a task force to keep student misconduct down at all state universities.
They plan to meet with all three state university presidents, Greek life members and even police departments to find out what can be done.
They want to have recommendations by next spring.
This comes on the heels of a death and several drunken brawls and a brutal assault by members of some ASU fraternities.
