The Southern Miss basketball team put some boots to the ground today as they participated in a fan socializing event at Brewsky's.

Players, coaches and cheerleaders shook hands and signed autographs while those in attendance enjoyed drinks and food provided for the event.

With tip-off about a month away, it was chance for head coach Donnie Tyndall and his players to meet fans that are going to cheer the loudest in the Coliseum.

"Well, it's exciting. Obviously, a fantastic turnout to tip-off our season. Official practice starts tomorrow afternoon and we want to kind of get thing started with our booster club, the Hardwood Club meeting," Tyndall said in an interview with reporters.

"We've probably got 250 people inside already. So, I think it speaks volumes number one, to our community and fans and the excitement number two, people have for our program and the season that's getting ready to be underway."

The Golden Eagles open the season at home against Slippery Rock October 29.
