12 students with minor injuries after school bus accident in Gulfport

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Officials confirm a school bus carrying students from North Gulfport was involved in an accident Monday afternoon.

According to Harrison County Schools Superintendent Henry Arledge, 24 students were riding in the bus when it collided with a vehicle on Indiana and Jackson Streets at 3:29 p.m.

AMR officials said 12 of the students were transported to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. The bus driver was not injured.

Arledge did not have specific details on what happened other than to say another vehicle was involved and the bus hit an electrical pole. Mississippi Power was called in to secure the electrical pole.

Another bus was sent to pick up the rest the students.
