JACKSON, MS (WAFB) -

Today's loss for the Arizona Cardinals was nothing compared to the tragedy that struck for one of their players on Saturday.

The father of the Cardinals defensive tackle Dan Williams was killed in a car accident on the way to the Superdome.

A spokesman for the team says the accident happened near Jackson, MS as Thomas Williams was driving from the family's home in Memphis. The player's mother and sister survived the crash. It is unclear exactly when the accident occurred, but the Cardinals' spokesman said Williams was notified before the team left for New Orleans on Saturday.
