Bentonia, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A suspected drug dealer is on the run, after a major marijuana growing operation was uncovered in Yazoo County Sunday.

After a nearly month-long investigation by Bentonia Police, Sheriff's deputies went to 204 Taylor Street armed with a search warrant. They were looking for the owner, Curtis Nolan, but he was not there.

Lawmen seized over two dozen marijuana plants.

The pot is worth about $27,000 on the streets. Authorities believe Nolan is one of the largest marijuana dealers in the area.

"But they recovered approximately 24 to 27 grown, mature marijuana plants. There was two or three found inside the house, about 14 found in the shed behind the house, another 10 found in the field you see behind the property," said Deputy Jack Willingham, Yazoo County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies also recovered four high powered rifles.

The charges against Nolan will be enhanced because of the weapons.

There was a woman inside the home during the search. She is not facing any charges at this time.
