Petal man dies in Lamar County auto accident

Posted: Updated:
LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A family in Petal is mourning the death of their son, who died in an auto accident Friday night. A one-vehicle accident on Steelman Road in Oak Grove took the life of Joshua Kmetz, 20.

According to Lamar County Chief Deputy Coroner Andy Geske, speed may have played a role in the accident. Geske says Kmetz' vehicle left the road and hit a tree, and although he was wearing a seatbelt, Geske said the impact was too strong.

The results of an autopsy will not be in until next week.
