GBI investigating fatal SSU shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah State University Campus Police, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continue the investigate an early morning shooting on the campus of Savannah State University that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.

Donald Bernard Lewis, who is not a Savannah State University student, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he died of injuries sustained during the incident, according to a release from the Director of Marketing and Communications of Savannah State. 

The campus was put on lockdown immediately following the shooting. The lockdown was lifted early Saturday morning.

The search for the gunman continues.
