Waynesboro Police remember one of their own

WAYNESBORO, MS (WDAM) - Every year about this time a Waynesboro family remembers the loss they suffered in 2005.

Waynesboro Police Officer Jamie Walker was shot, and killed in the line of duty that September.

"It's rough living without my brother," said Todd.

Todd recalls the night his family received the call brother Jamie Walker was shot.

"One of my good friends was deputy, and he wake me up. I had to wake my mom and dad up not knowing the outcome and once we reached the hospital I had to go in and tell them."

Todd delivered the painful news Jamie had received a fatal gun shot wound while making a routine traffic stop. He said he cries each day at the thought of that moment.

Todd said "When I lost him I lost my best friend. No one will never replace him."

Todd said memories are all he has.

"Day in, Day out, when I go to do something, he was always there. He is not there now," said Todd.

Jamie was also the father of two.

According to Todd, he loved his kids more than anything, and he would be really proud of them.

"It never gets easier," said Todd.
