Twelve Mississippi State baseball signees were either 2013 Major League Baseball Draft picks or All-Americans on the high school or junior college level.
Collegiate Baseball tabbed the Bulldogs signing 2012-2013 class #2 nationally.
LSU is ranked #10, South Carolina 11th, Ole Miss #12, Tennessee 14th and Texas A&M #15.
The Bulldogs ranking follows a trip by Mississippi State to the College World Series where the Bulldogs lost to UCLA in the finals.
Mississippi State head coach John Cohen said, "It is really exciting for respected people inside our industry to recognize the work of assistant coaches Nick Mingione and Butch Thompson, two of the best recruiters in all of college baseball."
"We certainly will not be able to judge the quality of this class for a few years, but we really like this 2013 class."
Reid Humphreys, Mississippi's 2013 Mr. Baseball, highlights the signing class. He was a 2013 Major League Baseball draft pick and is the younger brother of former Diamond Dawg and current MLB player Tyler Moore. The 6-2, 200 pounder hit .419, with a .543 on-base percentage and an .874 slugging percentage for Northwest Rankin High School.
Central Alabama Community College pitcher and another player drafted by MLB, went 5-0 with a 2.44 ERA this past spring. He rang up a complete-game win in the 2013 NJCAA National Championship game.
The young Bulldogs will display their talents October 4th, as Mississippi State opens its first practice of the fall at Dudy Noble Field.
