HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The section of Jackson Road in Oak Grove between the Long Leaf Trace and Acadia Oaks Subdivision will be closed Thursday and Friday to all traffic due to continuing construction.

The closure is necessary so they can link up to the new Jackson Road on the other side of West 4th Street.

When the road is reopened it will have a gravel surface at first. Paving should take place in approximately two-weeks.

During the closure motorists will need to use alternate routes to get around the area.

"It will be best if the traveling public become familiar with Classic Drive, Golf Course Road, and West Hills Drive," said Jason Lamb, Project Engineer. "This work will sever the artery between Forrest and Lamar Counties while we work to get this completed."

Residents of Acadia Oaks will only have access to the subdivision from the Lamar County side during the closure.
