HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Hancock County's Chancery Clerk Tim Kellar was recently ticketed for an alleged hunting violation. A wildlife spokesman said Kellar received a citation for hunting doves on a baited field.

The incident happened on property Kellar owns on Highway 43, near the Hancock-Pearl River County line.

The wildlife service has issued more than 300 citations for dove hunting violations statewide since the season opened September 1. More than 40 of those were written in Hancock County.

Kellar faces an October court date in Hancock County Justice Court. If found guilty, he could face a fine of between $200 and $350.

Kellar told WLOX News he wasn't actually hunting when the citation was issued, but was rather inside his house. He said his friends, who were also ticketed, were hunting on his land.
