HOLMES COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Holmes County man is charged with murdering his wife and kidnapping his 6-year-old son. The child, Sirvontez Adams, was not physically harmed.

Terrell Milton Adams, 43, is being held without bond.

The 31-year-old mother of the child, Coretta Andrews, was found on a rural road off of Ebenezer Road south of Lexington. She had been shot to death and left in a car.

Sirvontez and Andrews were apparently taken at a Dollar General Store Monday afternoon.

Sheriff Willie March says the child's father was angry that Andrews had left him.

An Amber Alert was issued around 8 a.m. Tuesday, but was lifted about 90 minutes later when the father and son were found walking down Ebenezer Road.

"Around about 8:30 he called the sheriff's office and informed the dispatcher to tell the deputy that he was on Ebenezer Road, and we could come down and pick him up. He was going to turn himself in," March said.

The sheriff says the father has a history of domestic violence and he advises all women who find themselves in that situation to get out immediately.

"When women are involved in a violent history of domestic violence, they need to get out of the relationship because it's a dangerous situation, domestic violence, in a family," Sheriff March added.
