ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College wide receiver JaMicheal Willis has been named the MACJC Offensive Player of the Week.

Willis, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound sophomore from Gardendale High School in Birmingham, Ala., had eight receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns as the 19th-ranked Bobcats defeated Pearl River Community College, 34-16, on Sept. 14.

Willis had touchdown receptions of 15, 22 and 71 yards as JCJC improved to 3-0 overall, 1-0 in the MACJC South Division.

Willis currently ranks No. 1 in the NJCAA with 136.7 receiving yards per game.

It is the second consecutive week for a Bobcat to be named MACJC Offensive Player of the Week. Last week, quarterback Steven Swindle received the honor for his performance against Northeast Mississippi.

The Bobcats face a difficult task this week as they travel to Perkinston to take on the No. 1 rated Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on Thursday and the game will air on www.jcjc.tv and on WLAU-FM, 99.3
