Officials: No imminent danger from the Canebrake lake dam

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Officials say there is no imminent danger that the dam at Canebrake in Lamar County will break.  County Supervisor, Phillip Carlisle, and Emergency Management Director, James Smith said a crack has been discovered on the roadway that runs on the dam but no other damage or seepage has been found on either side of the dam.

Per the request of D.E.Q., the Canebrake Homeowners Association is lowering the water level while the roadway is repaired.
