LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The murder trial of Ronnell Phillips, 21, came to a close Friday with three guilty verdicts.
The jury deliberated for less than two-hours before finding Phillips guilty on second degree murder, conspiracy, and shooting into an occupied dwelling in the 2011 death of 36-year-old Cassandra Rice.
In August of that year Phillips and three others went to the home on Sullivan Killrain Road and fired more than 10 rounds into it. One of the rounds struck Rice in the head killing her while she slept.
Rice's daughter had previously dated Phillips and when the relationship ended he continually harassed the family through phone calls, texts, and confrontations,
Three co-defendants were indicted with Phillips on the same charges.
