HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Three Pine Belt women have been honored by the Girl Scouts for their outstanding service to the Hattiesburg area. Forrest County Chancery Court Judge Deborah Gambrell Chambers and philanthropists and volunteers Marty McMahan and Bonnie Warren received the 2013 Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi.
The awards are given to women whose personal and professional achievements distinguish them as great role models for girls.
They were presented Thursday during a luncheon at Southern Oaks House and Gardens.
"I know the good work that the organization does and I'm really proud to be a recipient of this honor by the Girl Scouts," said Judge Deborah Gambrell Chambers.
"It's just so wonderful to be able to be selected with the group of women I've been selected with...it's just so humbling," said Bonnie Warren.
"I was very shocked and honored, I think the Girl Scouts is a wonderful organization. They impact young women's lives," said Marty McMahan.
It's the second year for those awards in Hattiesburg.
