HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Independent candidate for mayor of Hattiesburg Dave Ware spent Saturday reaching out to voters who've told him they've felt overlooked by past administrations. Ware met residents in the Palmer's Crossing area and officially opened a satellite campaign office on Old Airport Road.
Ware will take on fellow independent Shawn O'hara and incumbent Democratic Mayor Johnny Dupree in a Sept. 24 special election.
"This gives us the opportunity to share our message of inclusion, of making sure that each and every community gets the resources that it deserves," said Ware. "And also, allowing individuals to come in, have a conversation, receive some information, pick up a sign, volunteer to help walk the streets," he said.
Ware said his satellite office will have everything his headquarters on Hardy Street has and will be staffed by residents from Palmer's Crossing.
