HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The University of Southern Mississippi's African American Student Organization held its first-ever reunion this weekend.
The three-day reunion began Friday with a meet and greet and continued on Saturday with a cookout at Kamper Park. The organization is scheduled to attend USM's football game and will conclude their night at 206 Front Street. The variety of events is designed to reconnect former students who were members of the organization.
"We just want certainly for this to be the start of something very, very good for the school," said planning committee president, Watson Street. "The goal is to network and certainly bring people together and support the school in any way we can."
The reunion will conclude on Sunday with a church service at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
