Labor of Love blood drive Friday at United Blood Services

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

For the 19th year in a row the Hattiesburg Jaycees and United Blood Services are putting on their Labor of Love blood drive.

The drive began at 9 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. at the United Blood Service office on South 28th Avenue. The Jaycees are cooking free hamburgers and hotdogs for all the donors. Donors also get a free football themed t-shirt and reward points to the Hero Rewards Store. Free cholesterol screening is also available.

The drive is held each year to coincide with the Labor Day holiday and the end of the summer vacation season. Generally the demand for blood during holidays and at the end of the summer months is the greatest.

Appointments can be scheduled online at www.bloodhero.com. or by calling 601-264-0743 or 601-716-6572.

United Blood Service will also be open to donors Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
