Hattiesburg well-known restaurant holds ribbon cutting for new addition

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Robert St.John held a ribbon cutting Thursday for his newly-remodeled Purple Parrot Cafe and its new addition, Branch.

Several state and local officials gathered as Robert St. John cut the ribbon to Branch, which includes a cocktail bar, a wine cellar, a private dining room and an outside patio.

Along with the new addition, a new kitchen has also been added to the building.

"What we hear mostly from people who come here they feel like they're out of town," said St.John. "We believe it's something completely and totally different than we've ever done before and I think it's unique for Hattiesburg as well."

Governor Phil Bryant joined in the celebration and said it's great to see businesses keep growing.

"Robert has over two-hundred and twenty employees," said Bryant. "Sometimes we overlook our entrepreneurs that are right here in our own back yard. We have a program that we talk about, Grow Where You're Planted and Robert St. John has certainly been growing where he's been planting."
