Cleveland Police and their Narcotics Unit, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's office, the FBI and OSP executed an afternoon long vice operation Thursday to track down suspected drug offenders in the city.

Authorities spent the day scouring the city, searching homes in the area, executing warrants for drug traffickers.

"We are rooting out a drug organization from East 74th Street," said Cleveland Police Commander Patrick Stephens.

19 Action News was on the scene as it went down.

12 arrest warrants were served along with several search warrants -- in the area of E. 74th and Central.

"We served six search warrants in this neighborhood and one across town," added Stephens.

"The people who live in this community have been under this burden for a long time.  And, it shows them and demonstrates to them that we care about them, and we will not tolerate this type of activity," Mayor Frank Jackson said in a press conference Thursday.

Thursday police booked the suspects and conducted interviews. At least eight of the 12 people were arrested and more could follow.
