Defensive starters wait on the sideline while the 1st team offense runs plays.
The Columbia Wildcats practiced under cloudy skies at their home facility today.
It's head coach Walter Denton's 2nd year as the man in charge of the Wildcats and his team experienced a lot of success last season with a 7-4 record and a trip to the playoffs.
But even with the positives of last year, Denton feels there is still room for improvement.
"Offensively we've got to score the football. We got to get better at doing things offensively that we need to do. We need to throw it a little bit more and run it a lot more," Denton said at practice.
"We got to build on that 7-4 record. Our district is going to be tough. Our goal is to make the playoffs."
Columbia opens the season this Friday against St. Martin at home followed by rivals East and West Marion.
The Wildcats finished with a 4-1 record in district last season.
