One man dead, another in jail after Friday altercation in Columbia

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) -

A Columbia man is in jail, facing manslaughter charges in connection with the death of another man Friday night. 

Columbia Police said Frederick Mingo, 47, is charged in the death of Donald Ishman, 52. 

Details are incomplete, but police said Ishman died during a physical altercation with Mingo at a residence on Johnson Street before 8 p.m.

Ishman was pronounced dead at the scene.

    A Thursday morning two-vehicle accident in Jones County trapped one driver in a vehicle with serious injuries. Soso and Calhoun Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the accident around 5:30 a.m. on Feed Mill Road near Highway 28, according to a press release from the Jones County Fire Council.
