New Hattiesburg High School principal excited, prepared

A 1991 graduate of Hattiesburg High School has returned to his alma mater, this time as principal. Hattiesburg School District Superintendent selected Jermaine Brown as the high school's new principal, following an extensive search. Brown was officially approved on August 6 by the Hattiesburg school board.

He was the director of student services for the Biloxi School District, and served as Hattiesburg High's assistant athletic director from 2001-2005. Brown replaces Robert Sanders, whose contract was not renewed for the 2013-2014 school year.

"In my past positions, it has prepared me for such long hours and dedication. I would even say more dedication now, because it is home," Brown said.

"I'm truly committed to what's in the best interest of our students, and school. I have a lot of pride about this place, and I'm going to do all I can to make sure we succeed."

Brown also adds that he wants to ex cell far beyond the call of duty by eliminating the dropout rate at HHS. He also tightened up attendance policies so kids will stay in school and learn to the best of their abilities. He said the Tigers are off to a good start, and he plans on keeping it that way.
