TUSAYAN, AZ (CBS5) -

The lightning-sparked Skinner Fire burning five miles southwest of Tusayan has grown to 280 acres, the U.S. Forest Service said on Sunday.

The fire began July 26 and has been pushing west and growing 20 to 25 acres per day.

Fire managers are performing managed ignitions along select road portions to support firefighter safety.

Crews have also worked to protect a fence and trick tank located within the fire planning area.
