Governor Phil Bryant and the Mississippi Economic Council are co-sponsoring an upcoming event to discuss how to more effectively use the health care industry as an economic development tool for the state. The Governor's Healthcare Economic Development Summit will bring together health care executives, physicians and business leaders to focus on health care as an economic driver for Mississippi.
It will be held Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Jackson Convention Complex.
The head of the Mississippi Economic Council spoke about the summit at a business gathering in Hattiesburg Friday.
"How do we look at this like an auto plant and say, well, we may not have an auto plant, but we've got this health care," said Blake Wilson, president and CEO of the Mississippi Economic Council. "How do we build on it, how do we improve our community housing, how do we make it so that these are communities where people want to live and work," he said.
The event is free of charge, but pre-registration is required. You can do that online at www.MEC.ms.
