SENATOBIA, MS (WLOX) -

An off-duty Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper was killed in a motorcycle accident in Senatobia, Tuesday morning.

Sergeant Eric Lentz, 47, was riding his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, when he collided with a 2006 Dodge Charger. Investigators said it appears the driver of the truck attempted to make a left turn when he crossed into the path of the motorcycle.

Sergeant Lentz was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck received only minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Senatobia Police Department with assistance from the Mississippi Highway Patrol Crash Team.

Sergeant Lentz was assigned to Tate County. His career with the Department of Public Safety also included 12 years service with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. He leaves behind a wife, daughter, and son.
