Oahu Now Included in Tropical Storm Warning, Watch for Kauai & Niihau

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

As of 11:00am HST, Oahu joins the Big Island and Maui County under a Tropical Storm Warning. Kauai and Niihau are now under a Tropical Storm Watch.

Areas affected. This local statement provides information for portions of the Hawaiian Islands and adjacent coastal waters.

Watches/warnings.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui, the Big Island.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Maui County waters. Waters around the Big Island.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Kauai and Niihau.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Kauai channel, Oahu Windward waters and Oahu leeward waters.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that Tropical Storm conditions are expected within the next 36 hours somewhere within the specified areas.

A Tropical Storm Watch means that Tropical Storm conditions are possible within the next 48 hours somewhere within the specified areas.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for all Hawaiian islands beginning at 6:00 am HST Monday.

Storm information. At 11:00 am Sunday, the center of tropical storm Flossie was located about 430 miles east of Hilo, or about 615 miles east of Honolulu. Tropical Storm Flossie is moving W at 20 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph.

    Three days after nearly knocking off Ole Miss, Southern Miss responded with a 58-38 win over Sam Houston State on Friday night at Reed-Green Coliseum. From the 3:16 mark of the second period to the 5:35 mark of the third period, the Lady Eagles went on a 23-0 run to open a 33-16 lead over the Bearkats. USM outrebounded Sam Houston 45-32, thanks in part to junior Megan Brown and senior Jayla King’s pair of double-doubles.
